Power Hour #5

Year 1, Week 5
Landmark Arena, Cornelia GA

* * * * *

"Hello, wrestling fans, and welcome to Georgia Wrestling Evolution!  This is the Power Hour!  I'm Tony Schiavone, alongside John "The Body" Johnson, and we've got a barn burner this week.  The second match in the Silver Six Series is this week with Sumie Sakai taking on Amber O'Neal.  We'll see Luke Hawx in action.  And that's not all, J.J."

"Tony, in this week's main event, we see J.D. Drake of the WorkHorsemen against Cedric Alexander of C&C Wrestle Factory and Jimmy Hart's gonna join us in the booth.  Let's see if Hart makes the right call for the first members of the First Family."

Schiavone shakes his head throughout J.J.'s biased billboarding, then sends us to the ring for our opening contest this week

Opening Contest
"Reborn" Matt Sydal pins Mike Jackson with the Shooting Sydal Press in 10:10
✮ 1/2

As Sydal celebrates a hard fought win, we go to the podium where Schiavone is with Kraken.  Schiavone starts by showing footage from the last GWE house show in Lawrenceville.  We see highlights of the Murder-1/Robert Gibson main event, including Chip Day's distraction saving Murder-1 from the Gibson Leglock, the double DQ on the floor, and the resulting brawl between Kraken and the Rock & Roll Express.  When the video ends, Chip Day speaks up.

"You say that I saved Murder-1 from the Gibson Leglock, Schiavone.  I say there's no way 'The Urban Legend' would submit to Robert Gibson or anyone else.  I came down because everyone has been against us from the jump.  Referees, the commission, Bill Behrens, you name it.  Nobody wants us to have a fair shot at the Tag Titles.  They know what'll happen to Morton and Gibson and we've proven it."

At this point, out come the Georgia Tag Champs The Rock & Roll Express.  Ricky Morton steps to the opposite side of the podium.  "Let me tell you two something.  We have not ducked anybody in our lives and we never will.  If you want a shot at these Georgia Tag Team Titles, our dance card is wide open this week in Columbus.  What do you say?"

"You two gonna get got in Columbus," Murder-1 exclaims.  "You ain't just gonna get beat for those belts.  We gonna end the Rock & Roll forever."  We go to commercial as Kraken leaves and Tony Schiavone tosses to break.

Silver Six Series Qualifier
Amber O'Neal pins Sumie Sakai after a spinning neckbreaker in 19:49

After an incredible match, Amber O'Neal heads to the podium to select her envelope for the next round of the Silver Six, "Right here, Tony Schiavone, this is my golden ticket.  I'm unlike anything that's ever hit Georgia wrestling and this little envelope puts me in the express lane to the Georgia Featherweight Championship.  I can't wait to have that belt and watch my social media light up.  Schiavone, 'hashtag' and new!"  Schiavone lets us know we'll have the last Silver Six Qualifier next week as O'Neal leaves, then goes to break.

As we come back from break, Tony Schiavone introduces "The New Orleans Bad Boy" Luke Hawx.  Schiavone notes that he's been told Hawx asked for a tag team match this week and Hawx explains.  "Tony, I entered into GWE to prove to myself that I am at the top of our sport.  I thought the way to do that was the Georgia Grand Prix, but I didn't qualify.  Now, last week, in Lawrenceville, I took on a newcomer that the TV audience hasn't seen yet, and that's a shame.  He pushed me and... he got the better of me.  I talked to that young man afterwards in the locker room and I want to bring him out here right now.  This is John Skylar."

"The Southern Savior" John Skylar comes to the podium.  Schiavone welcomes Skylar and Skylar speaks, "Thank you, Tony.  I glad to be in GWE and I gotta say, I was worried when I found out my debut was against Luke Hawx, but after our conversation after the match, well, maybe it was fate.  Luke and I have the same goal, to be the very best in professional wrestling.  Maybe, just maybe, you're looking at the future Georgia Tag Team Champions.  Well, we figure it's worth a couple of matches to find out."  We go to the ring as Hawx and Skylar ready for action.

Tag Team Feature
Luke Hawx & John Skylar defeat The Mulkey Brothers when Skylar knocks out Bill Mulkey with a sleeper in 5:35

Freddie Miller's voice rings out over the sounds of Loverboy, "Wrestling fans, the Evolution comes to Columbus and the Columbus Civic Center this week!  The WorkHorsemen face the C&C Wrestle Factory in a best of three falls match.  Matt Sydal goes one-on-one with C.W. Anderson.  And the huge main event, for the Georgia Tag Team Championship, Murder-1 and Chip Day, Kraken, challenge the Rock & Roll Express, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, the Georgia Tag Team Champions!  All this and more as GWE comes to Columbus.  Tickets are available at the box office and all TicketMaster outlets.  Doors open at 6 with a 7pm bell time.  See all the stars of the GWE in Columbus!  BE THERE!"

When we come back from break, Tony Schiavone and John Johnson have been joined by "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart at the announce position.  Hart tells us that he's almost ready to announce his offer for the charter members of The First Family in GWE and this match is going to be key in his decision.  Before the competitors in our main event make there way out, "Wildside" heralds the arrival of our matchmaker and Bill Behrens comes to the podium with the Georgia Heavyweight Championship belt in hand.  Tony steps up with the mic and mentions this unexpected before Behrens speaks.

"It may be unexpected, but it's about time.  This Georgia Heavyweight Title needs a champion and the four men that qualified for the Grand Prix are chomping at the bit.  In three weeks, the Grand Prix Finals will take place in Atlanta, Georgia at the Municipal Auditorium.  We'll decide who's in that final over the next three weeks in a round robin tournament.  The top two will go to the Georgia Grand Prix supercard in Atlanta for this belt.  This week in Columbus, the first two matches in this round robin will take place with Austin Theory facing Larry Zbyszko and A.J. Styles facing Jimmy Rave."  The crowd cheers at the announcement.  "Now, I believe we've got a big main event to get to."  Behrens leaves and we get ready main event action!
